Overweight back pain is commonplace for people who are significantly larger than they should be and is especially prevalent in obese patients. Being overweight places inordinate stress on all the systems and structures of the body and does permanent damage to many of the bodies components.

Far worse than back pain are the many dire complications associated with being overweight, so I always recommend getting down to a healthy body size as a priority for every person, with or without dorsopathy symptoms.

As a lifelong fitness professional, I really understand the struggle that some people have with weight, but hope that this article will help to put the real risks of obesity in perspective and maybe even cause some of you to become more proactive in your quest to be healthier.

More size and weight equals more force applied to the spine, the back muscles and all the structures in the body. Additionally, force which is applied due to movement or trauma is magnified when the weight of the body works to increase it.

A disproportionate anatomy is not healthy, as it stresses many of the internal systems, including the immune system, the skeletal system, the cardiovascular system and the circulatory system, among others.

It is well known by orthopedists and neurologists alike that being overweight makes a person far more susceptible to a variety of chronic pain issues.

Obesity back pain can be caused by a significant amount of extra weight applying added pressure to the spine, among other possible reasons. Obesity is rarely the exclusive cause of back pain, but it is often a factor that aggravates existing pain conditions.
